When given the challenge of creating a handmade representation of a movie poster, I knew it had to be for a Leonardo DiCaprio movie (my favorite actor). I was always captivated by the many layers of the main character, Frank Abagnale Jr., in “Catch Me If You Can” and how he was able to pull off such a wide range of fraud in both the movie and real life. For the creation of this poster, I sourced and printed advertisements from the era of the movie. I tore them apart (much like what Frank does with labels to stuff his wallet) and collaged them together to create an image of a suit (Frank relies on uniforms to establish his authority). More importantly, reflecting the underlying nature of Frank’s character, I created a symbol of status by piecing worthless bits together.

When assigned the task of creating honey packaging for a niche demographic, art curators, I really had to get my creative juices flowing. After much research, I found that art curators have a tendency to be traditionalists with an appreciation of quality and craft in products. This information led me to reference classic storybook illustrations and typography as inspiration for this sweet and sophisticated design.
